Congratulations to our Rex Adams Community & Environment Award Winners
We are very lucky to have wonderful staff at Police Credit Union who are passionate about dedicating their time and efforts to supporting the wider community and environment. Every year, our team receive a paid Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) day to donate their time to a local cause.
On this day, our staff can use their day to do things like planting trees, picking up rubbish, looking after rescued animals or packing bags of essentials to go to children in need – just to name a few.
While everyone receives one CSR day, we have several team members who go above and beyond and dedicate extra hours to passionately supporting charities and protecting our environment.
It’s for this reason at our annual Staff Celebration Night we award a team or individual with the Rex Adams Community & Environment Award. This award is in honour of Rex Adams who was an integral part of the community. On top of his longstanding work as a police officer with South Australian Police, Rex also dedicated many hours to the Walkerville Rotary Club and local council. Rex worked closely with Police Credit Union on developing many of our environmental strategies as a Community Environment Employee Engagement and Diversity Committee member. Rex sadly passed away in July 2020. We proudly recognise Rex’s contribution to our local community and to Police Credit Union with an award in his name.
At our 2022 Staff Celebration Night, the Rex Adams Community & Environment Award was awarded to our Adelaide Branch.
Throughout the year, the small but mighty team organised and participated in a range of initiatives to support causes close to their heart. These included:
- Movember
- The Hutt St Centre’s Walk a Mile in My Boots
- The Ice-Bucket Challenge for ALS
- Animal Rescue – Freedom Hill Sanctuary
- Representing Police Credit Union at the Clipper Ship Memorial Anniversary, and
- Volunteering for Salvation Army and the Adelaide Footy League.
On top of this, the branch held a drive for canned and dry food and pet toys to donate to Animal Welfare League and organised an Easter Raffle which raised over $700 for Canoe for Kids, a Police Credit Union event that raises funds for Blue Light Police Link Program. This program buys each child a Christmas present at an annual Christmas party at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The team also demonstrated a passionate and enthusiastic approach to community involvement and sustainability by car-pooling or taking public transport to work where possible and being conscious of paper usage and recycling initiatives.
Congratulations to our fantastic Adelaide Branch! Find out more about our Community and Environment initiatives.
