Can you tell us about your career background and what led you to apply for the Adelaide Branch Manager role?
For the last five years I have been working in various roles at another financial institution. I was drawn to apply for the Adelaide Branch Manager role by the great online reviews by Police Credit Union staff on SEEK. I was looking for a new challenge and really felt Police Credit Union aligned with my values.
What excites you most about being part of the Police Credit Union team?
The culture and collaboration within the organisation is wonderful. Being a smaller financial institution there are great opportunities to grow and develop.
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time with Police Credit Union so far?
Since joining Police Credit Union, the Adelaide branch has been involved in several community and fundraising events. It has been great to see the team get behind these events, plan together, promote within the business and gain backing and support from their peers. It’s wonderful to see this so ingrained in our culture and embraced by everyone. A highlight was when the Adelaide Branch hosted an Easter Raffle to raise funds for Police Link, who provide Christmas gifts to each patient at the annual Women’s and Children’s Hospital Christmas Party. The branch purchased easter eggs and bundled them up into two prizes to raffle off. The whole organisation really got behind our cause and we raised an amazing $580!
What are you hoping to achieve in this role?
Creating a brand for the Adelaide branch and Police Credit Union for being a trusted and reliable financial provider who provides amazing service and lending.
What is your hidden talent/superpower?
My hidden talent is cake decorating. I have been known to make some epic fondant cakes for kids and adults’ birthdays.
What are you binge watching at the moment?
One Tree Hill – an oldie but a goodie
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Professionally: Build your team up so they are capable to take your job.
Personally: Be kind to people, you never know what someone is going through.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to relax and be with family! I have three amazing kids whom I love to spend time with. We play games, watch movies and have lots of laughs!
What advice would you give to young professionals aspiring to a career in banking?
Focus on your members, believe in your products, learn from everyone around you and learn from your mistakes.
