Supporting like-minded, community-focussed clubs, associations, organisations, activities and events across SA and NT is what we’re all about.

Our Community, Environment and Employee Engagement and Diversity Committee (CEEED) proactively works with the community, focussing on our social responsibility and ensuring that we support, promote and invest in the use of sustainable energy.

From supporting local organisations such as the Adelaide Footy League, to major community events such as our 23-year commitment to the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, to our ongoing and longstanding partnerships with the Police Association of South Australia, the Northern Territory Police Association and the City of Adelaide Clipper Ship, we are passionate about fulfilling our corporate social responsibility objectives.

We have also formed a major partnership with the Country Fire Service (CFS) Foundation Inc. and the SA SES Volunteers’ Association. This, along with our ongoing support of SA Police Legacy, means we understand working with those on the front line and the importance of supporting their volunteers and their families.

In fact, since 2006 we have surpassed our targets for community investment spend, contributing over $6.68 million to community initiatives.

We are committed to being environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Our focus on our responsibility to be environmentally friendly and sustainable, saw us become self-assessed carbon neutral in 2018, two years earlier than planned. From there, we became certified carbon neutral in 2021 and, now, Police Credit Union is officially certified as a carbon neutral organisation for our business operations by Climate Active.

Since 2008, we have proudly neutralised and offset over 2,540 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere.

As we continue to put steps in place to reduce our environmental impact, we’ve worked to give our Members options to play their part. Our Solar Eco Loans can be used for the purchase of solar energy products, and we also offer our Low Rate Car Loans where we will offset the carbon emissions of your vehicle for the life of the loan.

Adopt A Road Initiative: we are a proud participant in the Adopt A Road program run by KESAB, demonstrating our joint commitment to maintaining a cleaner and more beautiful Adelaide. Staff members volunteer their time to clean up and maintain specific roads in the city, actively contributing to a cleaner environment.

We have implemented a series of other changes including:

• Replacing all incandescent bulbs with energy efficient LED lights with in-built motion sensors to minimise energy wastage.
• Purchasing carbon offsets for the kilometres flown by staff.
• Continually moving our Members to Online Statements to save on printing. 
• Upgrading our Online Banking system and the Banking App to not only provide secure and convenient banking, but to give our Members more opportunity to move away from printed statements and cheques.
• Upgrading our external branch signage to LED lighting, a far more efficient power source, as well as replacing some poster holders with TV screens where possible, to reduce paper printing.

The move to Online Statements resulted in less statements being printed each month, over 200 trees being saved a year and an annual reduction in paper consumption of over 3,100 reams. We are working towards trying to reduce our statement printing quantity by 5% each year.
