Faces Behind Better Banking – Matt

Meet our newly appointed Limestone Coast Relationship Manager, Matt.

At Police Credit Union, we are proud to offer our Platinum and Advantage packages to police officers, emergency services workers, healthcare professionals and more. Matt’s job is to work personally with these special Members to help them get the most out of their banking.

With a love of meeting new people and a passion for his home on the Limestone Coast; there couldn’t be a better person for the job.

What appealed to you about the Limestone Coast Relationship Manager role?

Being able to strengthen and maintain my existing relationships in the community and have the opportunity to create and build new connections.

What are you hoping to achieve in the position?

I see great value in having access to a Relationship Manager for our Platinum and Advantage Members. I aim to strengthen Police Credit Union’s identity in the region by remaining easily accessible, and readily available to deliver a superior quality of service to all potential and existing Members.

What excites you about the role? And why?

I love meeting new people and building connections. The adrenaline rush before talking to someone you’ve never met, or the pride when a Member thanks you after you’ve done a good job for them, are feelings that don’t ever get old!

Can you tell us about your career history? Where were you working before joining Police Credit Union?

I’ve worked in a few different roles. I see that as an advantage as I’ve worked with people from all walks of life and in different environments. I was a Correctional Officer for four years, this is also why I have a soft spot for our Platinum and Advantage Members. I have worked in schools, hospitality, sales and designing kitchens, I also ran my own music business touring the country.

What is your hidden talent/superpower?

Remembering random facts. You want me on your trivia team.

What are you binge watching at the moment?

I don’t tend to binge, last thing I watched was “The Terminal List” starring Chris Pratt (my cousin!).

What are your favourite spots on the Limestone Coast?

There are a few secret sinkholes I used to swim in. But the place I love the most is the First tee at the Blue Lake Golf Club. Stooped in the picturesque shadow of Mt Gambier, slight dog leg right – perfect for my (occasional) slice!

What do you like most about working at Police Credit Union?

The extremely supportive working environment and great team. I’ve made some great friends and had lots of laughs. It’s also right around the corner from my house so it’s very convenient.

What do you love about being part of the Mt Gambier Branch team?

The whole team have been so helpful and welcoming. I feel like I’ve been a part of the team for a lot longer than I have and that’s testament to the quality of the people that work here.

What has been your favourite customer experience since joining Police Credit Union?

I had a great conversation with a Member when I hadn’t been here for all that long. He had grand plans that sounded exciting for him, and I could feel the passion for the project. I referred him to our Business Banking team. Nine months later and Sylv, our Senior Business Banking Manager, and the team have helped the Member’s dreams come true. The Member sang the praises of Sylv. This makes me proud and happy to be part of an amazing team that I can rely upon and can rely on me to execute my role well.

We are thrilled to have Matt on board! If you are a police officer, emergency service worker or healthcare professional and live on the Limestone Coast, Matt is here to help with your banking needs or perhaps challenge you to a hit around the golf course. Give him a call on 08 8726 4000 or visit him at our Mt Gambier branch.
