Comprehensive Credit Reporting

What is Comprehensive Credit Reporting?

Comprehensive Credit Reporting (CCR) is changing the way numerous Australian financial institutions like Police Credit Union report your customer credit information.

CCR, also known as positive credit reporting, means an increase in the amount of information we share with credit reporting bodies. Credit reporting bodies are independent organisations which securely collect consumers’ credit and personal information for financial institutions to use to assess loan and credit applications.

The credit repayment information we provide to credit reporting bodies relates to any personal lending products you have with Police Credit Union, such as credit cards, personal loans, home loans and overdrafts.

CCR allows credit providers to obtain a more comprehensive view of your financial situation to meet responsible lending requirements which ultimately helps you secure your financial wellbeing.

What’s changing?

Currently we report information about when you applied for credit products and any payment defaults or bankruptcies you may have had.

Now with CCR, we’ll also be reporting:

  • When your accounts were opened or closed.
  • The types of loans and credit accounts you have.
  • Credit limits on each account.
  • Your repayment history (up to 24 months), including whether you make your repayments on time.
  • Your Financial Hardship Information (12 months), confirming if you have been granted a period of hardship and, if so, whether you are meeting the terms of your hardship agreement.  

What does this mean for you?

Moving forward, we will be reporting this additional data to credit reporting bodies. This means it’s even more important to make your repayments on time, as this may influence your future lending applications and suitability.

To help make your repayments on time, consider setting up automated payments like direct debits via Online Banking or our Banking App. Learn how to make payments and transfers. You can also call our friendly Contact Centre on 1300 131 844 for assistance in setting up these payments or to register for Online Banking.  

We understand that managing payments can be difficult, if your financial situation changes and you are worried about being able to make your repayments on time, get in touch with us on 1300 131 844 and we will talk you through your options or visit our Financial Hardship page.

You can access your own credit report for free every three months via the Equifax website.
