Today, on International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating and recognising the wonderful women who make up the Police Credit Union team.
It seems fitting on this day to cast a spotlight on one of our long-standing leaders, Maggie, who will soon celebrate her 30-year anniversary of working at Police Credit Union.
Maggie’s career at Police Credit Union began on 27 April 1992, when she joined what was known as the Teleservice department at the time, now the Contact Centre. From there, she worked her way up to Member Service Officer, to Lending Officer and finally to her current role as Manager of Lending and Lending Administration, where Maggie leads a team of 13 team members.
“I was not specifically looking for a career in finance at the time, but I am so happy that I chose this path,” she said.
“I love my role at Police Credit Union. It is challenging and rewarding, and there are always new and interesting things to learn.”
In recognition of her amazing efforts, last year Maggie was awarded the Chairman & CEO’s Award at our annual Police Credit Union Staff Celebration Awards night. This award recognises staff who go above and beyond their role to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation.
“Winning the Chairman & CEO’s Award is the ultimate compliment and I feel very lucky to have received this award.”
Maggie’s advice for those who may be looking to pursue a career in the finance industry is simple – go for it.
“For anyone interested in a career in the finance industry, particularly in Lending I would say set your goals and go for it. You will not be disappointed.”
Outside of her role at Police Credit Union, Maggie describes her other loves as reading, watching murder mysteries and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
